James Wilson

The James Wilson Law Society is named after James Wilson, Founding Father and signer of the Declaration of Independence.

James Wilson's significance is manifold - not only as a prominent Framer of the Constitution and a legal theorist, nor just as one of the six original justices appointed to the Supreme Court, but also as a teacher. In fact, Penn Law traces its origin back to a series of lectures delivered by Wilson in 1790. It is thus for his historical significance, and his connection to the City of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania, that this society chose James Wilson as its namesake.
